Founded in 1987, the membership of the Majlis Dato’ Dato’ Negeri Pulau Pinang is open to all persons who have been conferred Orders of Chivalry (Darjah Kebesaran), namely the Darjah Utama Pangkuan Negeri (D.U.P.N.), Darjah Panglima Pangkuan Negeri (D.P.P.N.), Darjah Gemilang Pangkuan Negeri (D.G.P.N.), Darjah Yang Mulia Pangkuan Negeri (D.M.P.N.) or Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (D.S.P.N.) by Tuan Yang Terutama Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang.

The highest authority of the Majlis is the General Meeting, which elects a Management Council biennially to run the affairs of the Majlis. The Management Council consists of:

  • A President
  • A Deputy President
  • 3 Vice Presidents
  • An Immediate Past President
  • An Honorary Secretary
  • An Honorary Treasurer
  • 7 Committee Members

The Patron of the Majlis is the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang.

The Majlis conducts various activities & events and also operates the Tabung Kebajikan Majlis Dato’ Dato’ Negeri Pulau Pinang, which is tax-exempt. The Tabung Kebajikan is a charitable fund which has identified & helped many needy causes over the years, and continues to contribute to Society.

Amongst some of the main objectives of the Majlis are to promote goodwill and fellowship as well as foster closer relationship and companionship among Members, to support and assist wherever possible in the achievement of the aims and aspirations of the office of the Yang Di Pertua Negeri and the Government of the State of Penang, to encourage members to contribute their expertise, experience and knowledge for the betterment of the Community and the Council, and to set up a fund known as “Tabung Derma Kebajikan Majlis Dato’ Dato’ Negeri Pulau Pinang”.

Members of the Majlis are given Membership Cards & Car Badges, and only Members of The Majlis are entitled to wear the official (No.1) Majlis Dato’ uniform together with the epaulette & gorget, which are proprietary of The Majlis. The Majlis’s car badge is Trademark registered, owned by The Majlis.

The Majlis normally appoints a Company Secretary/Accounting firm to act as our Executive Secretaries & Treasurers for the smooth running of The Majlis.

The main objectives of the Majlis are to:

  • To promote goodwill and fellowship as well as foster closer relationship and companionship among members holding the State of Penang order the “Darjah Utama Pangkuan Negeri”, the “Darjah Panglima Pangkuan Negeri”, the “Darjah Gemilang Pangkuan Negeri”, the “Darjah Yang Mulia Pangkuan Negeri”, and the “Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri”.
  • To consider, determine and maintain the status-quo of members carrying the title of Dato’ of the State of Penang.
  • To support and assist wherever possible in the achievement of the aims and aspirations of the office of the Yang Di Pertua Negeri and the Government of the State of Penang.
  • To encourage members to contribute their expertise, experience and knowledge for the betterment of the Community and the Council.
  • To obtain concession and privileges where possible from the public and private sectors.
  • To set up a fund know as “Tabung Derma Kebajikan Majlis Dato’ Dato’ Negeri Pulau Pinang”.
