The Majlis, together with Polis Di Raja Malaysia (PDRM), supported by the Blood Bank of Penang General Hospital and in collaboration with Sunshine Wholesale Mart Sdn. Bhd. and also Sg Ara Community Ambulance successfully held a Blood Donation Campaign on Saturday, 9th September 2023 at the 4th Floor of Sunshine Square in Bayan Baru.
The function was officiated by the Deputy Chief Minister 1 of Penang, YB Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Bin Abdul Hamid. Also present was Penang State EXCO YB En. Fahmi Bin Zainol, YB Senator Dr. Lingeshwaran a/l R. Arunasalam, the Deputy Chief Police Officer of Penang, the Director of Penang General Hospital, other dignitaries and some of the Management Committee Members of the Majlis.
A total of 188 blood donors came forward to donate blood, of which 113 were from PDRM.
At the event, the Sg. Ara Community Ambulance gave free blood pressure & blood sugar tests and a booth was set up for AED machine and first Aid demonstration.
A booth was also set up by the Organ Donation Bank for the visiting public to find out more about organ donation and to make pledges if they so wished by registering. It is heartening to note that more than 20 people had come forward to pledge their organs.
Goodies Bag were given to all blood donors. An early lunch was served to all dignitaries & packed lunch boxes were distributed to all volunteers.
